Review: Adele - Chasing Pavements28 January, 2008 — Hazel Gardner

adele chasing pavements

It seems to be female-singer-songwriter season at the moment, 19 year old Adele being a prominant surfer on the current wave. Love or hate her songs or vocal style, there's no denying that Adele's distinctive soulful voice displays a talent which surpasses many female singers ten years her senior.

'Chasing Pavements' is a perfect vessel for such a voice. It's mellow verses soar into intense choruses, which will surely have you singing along after only one listen. Two listens later and you'll probably love this song. Unfortunately, for me at least, it got boring rather quickly after that. Still, 'Chasing Pavements' is a mature offering from one of Britain's finest up-and-coming female soloists.

Overall

What next?More by Adele? More reviews? More soul, or jazz?
