Review: Cassie - Me & U28 August, 2006 — Stuart Brown

Hot from the US billboard chart, Cassie's latest R&B offering is trying its luck on the UK charts. It's the first single from her eponymous album, and it's called 'Me & U'. Is it just another bland R&B love song?

cassie me and u cover

Elementary school melody and typically minimal production mean that the music is nothing to write home about in itself - normally not the focus in R&B, to be fair - but the lyrics aren't great either.

Somewhat breathy, monotonal, and less than exciting, Cassie seems to plod through the song for 3 minutes without any feeling or soul. Perhaps this is what constitutes good R&B, but it certainly doesn't constitute good music.

Perhaps a remix could punch this one up a bit?

Bad points

Overall summary

Breathy, atonal, largely pointless
