Club Focus: Indietron, Preston20 February, 2007 — Hazel Gardner

We love clubs. You love clubs. Everyone loves clubs. Therefore we have decided it might be nice to write some regular reviews of UK 'alternative' clubs and clubnights that you might not have heard of before, and might fancy checking out if you're ever in town. By alternative, we mean rock, metal, indie, electro, retro and all those sub-genres inbetween. The first Club Focus looks at Indietron, in Preston, Lancashire...

What is it?

It is Indietron, a clubnight that emerged from a reviews site. Only started in 2006, but already well established and increasingly well-attended, Indietron is more than just an indie night. You can expect to hear the likes of British Sea Power, Be Your Own Pet, Radiohead and Blur alongside the rockier Foo Fighters and Muse, plus the usual appearance of classics such as Bowie and The Smiths.

Where is it?

It's at Mad Ferret, Fylde Road, Preston.

When is it?

The first Friday of every month, 8pm-1am.

How much is it?

It's free- woo hoo!

What's so good about it?

A really good selection of music, to start with. That plus cheap drinks, a friendly atmosphere and late-night drunken dancing (guilty as charged) make for a bloody good evening. Check out www.indietron.com to look at reviews or request songs on the forum.

See you on March 2nd!

What next?More features? More indie, or club?
