Leslie Feist, recording under her surname, is a Canadian singer-songwriter hailing from Calgary, and despite a few singles under her belt, makes her first UK Top 40 debut with '1 2 3 4' - with thanks in small part to the inclusion of the song in the iPod Nano advert.
As a vocalist, she's melodious and pleasantly soft, with a dynamic range and delicate folky sound - particularly prevalent in prior song My Moon My Man, but to a similar extent in 1 2 3 4.
The video (below) is a delight of dance and colour - I have no idea what's going on, but it's entertaining. If I'm honest I prefer her earlier releases - but I guess it's just the power of advertising at work here.
Regardless, it's a sweet song, well performed, with a cute video. The album, The Reminder, looks like a good set of songs - this is but one of them, and it stands in its own right perfectly well.

What next?More by Feist? More reviews? More indie, or pop?
