Review: Get Cape Wear Cape Fly - The Chronicles of a Bohemian Teenager18 September, 2006 — Stuart Brown

If there were a prize for worst name for an artist, ever, 'Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly' would surely walk (or perhaps fly) away with the prize. Still, I suppose it's more interesting than the musician's real name - Sam Duckworth, but that's hardly the point. Chronicles of a Bohemian Teenager, then. Sounds pretty emo. Pleasingly, it's not.

Cape writes songs in what is described as 'Folktronica', but covers quite a wide gamut with it - ranging from pure pop influences through a rockier edge, with nice electronic production and flourishes.

The sound is spectacularly polished - self-written, performed, and produced, there's no shortage of talent here. Although it perhaps lacks the mainstream appeal or 'bite' of more commercial tracks, this is a good, upbeat and nice song that gains appeal with every listen.

Overall summary

Awful name for a band, song, but slick nonetheless.
