Girls Aloud - Sexy! No No No...

You may think that Fuzznut is very anti-pop, but we have to give Girls Aloud their dues here - for a manufactured girl band they've been around for a very very long time and that is very impressive. The Irish one, the ginger one, the gobby one, the one who is always on the piss and the... erm... other one have released a huge number of top ten hits, some one which were good (Sound of the underground, Love Machine), some of which were lousy (Biology) and some of which were just darn weird (pretty much everything else)

This song falls into the latter category - it's very different to the group's usual offerings and is coupled with a very strange video (which reminded me of Fighter by Christina Aguilera).

Sexy No no no takes a while to get started but once it does is full of feisty vocals and thumping beats, it's quite grown-up by Girls Aloud standards. I do have two major quibbles with the song though - firstly the lyrics are hard to understand in most places (after a couple of listens I was still unsure what the song was supposed to be about), secondly the style of the song is very erratic and seems a bit jumpy in places. Will the group's fans warm to it? Who knows, and indeed who really cares.

In conclusion, this song is weird and this this will be a song that people will either really love or can't stand. I'm still on the fence with it - it's a very brave effort but I don't think it'll go down in the annals of Girls Aloud history as a fan favourite.

Overall

What next?More by Girls Aloud? More reviews? More pop?
