Review: Kelis (feat. Too Short) - Bossy14 September, 2006 — Stuart Brown

Kelis rose to recognition with the wonderfully catchy 'Milkshake', and now she's back, proving that following something successful is always difficult. Her first single from the album 'Kelis Was Here', is ballsy, with defiant lyrics and in-your-face attitude. Does it wash?

kelis too short bossy

To be frank, it does not. Whereas Milkshake was catchy, quirky and fun, 'Bossy' is run-of-the mill, arrogant and nondescript. Coupled with the annoying chorus vocals, it's not a good combination.

There's nothing major wrong with the music - it's all present and correct - but the song itself just isn't particularly likeable, unless you're a hardcore Kelis fan. Stick to the Milkshake.

Self indulgent tripe.
