Review: Little Man Tate - House Party At Boothys10 September, 2006 — Stuart Brown

Cheeky indie 4-piece Little Man Tate are quickly building up a following in much the same vein as The Arctic Monkeys, with their broad Sheffield accent and edgy lyrics. LMT don't have quite the same level of polish as the Monkeys, but what they lack in polish they make up with raucous spirit.

Their second single, 'House Party at Boothy's', is like a perfect slice of carefree life - like the subject of the song itself it captures the spirit (and part of the aftermath) of a house party, warts and all.

The lyrics really come into their own - they're cheeky, tell a story, and are suitably risqué - but all the while they form into what is essentially a good indie song. The vid's as you'd expect - with the possible exception of the policeman theme, but captures all the exuberance of the youth of our time. And they manage to rhyme 'player' with 'gayer', in what can only be described as creative genius. Recommended.
