Review: Nelly Furtado (feat. Timbaland) - Promiscuous10 September, 2006 — Stuart Brown

Relaunched Furtado is tearing up the charts in the States with her sexy new blend of Hip Hop and R&B. Latest single 'Promiscuous' promises to be her most successful to date, but is success the measure of a good song?

The image works here - the video and song for a sexy composite, and the sounds aren't unpleasant, and the song goes along with some aplomb. Promiscuous, though, isn't a great song by any measure. Sure, it's cute - but there's nothing to it - no hook, no gimmick, so this one could slide past you without any realization.

Couple that with some slightly daft set-pieces and lyrics between Timbaland and Furtado, and you have one pleasant song which (despite global chart success) is less than memorable.

Overall summary

Fresh sound, but ultimately disappointing and less than memorable.
