remi nicole

My first glimpse of singer Remi Nicole's music was a song called 'Fed Up', played on the Jo Whiley show. It gave me a fairly negative first impression, simply because it didn't strike me as being particularly original. Remi is unavoidably going to be labelled as part of Generation-Lily-Allen, and 'Fed Up' doesn't exactly discourage this. Slightly irritated by the song, I happily tarred her with that brush.

'Go Mr Sunshine', however, is actually really good. It's sunny chorus perfectly captures the essence of a summer hit, which it will surely be. It's catchy and bold, and much less singer-songwritery than I expected.

More Lily Allen than Kate Nash (thankfully), and less irritating than both, 'Go Mr Sunshine' will hopefully bitch-slap the latter's 'Foundations' out of the top ten.

What next?More by Remi Nicole? More reviews? More indie?
