Review: Rihanna - Unfaithful20 August, 2006 — Stuart Brown

When the video first kicks off, you'd be forgiven for thinking this was a trailer for a cheap, low-budget action/suspense film from somewhere in the mid-1980's. But you'd be wrong. This is the second single from Rihanna's album, A Girl Like Me. And it's absolutely terrible.

rihanna unfaithful cover

A brief summary from the song, taken from Rihanna_song%29">Wikipedia.

The song is a take on a woman who is in a relationship with a man but is seeing someone else on the side. The woman begins to realize that her partner is well aware that she is having an affair and it is hurting him badly, so she begins to regret her affair, stating "I don't want to be a murderer."

That's right. In the song, the woman is being unfaithful to her boyfriend, and talks of 'killing him a little bit everyday'. Apparently, she doesn't want to be a 'murderer'.

What utter tosh. The caterwailing lasts for nearly 5 minutes, with Rihanna's vocals strained and painful to listen to. I have only one word of advice: Dump this harlot, from both your life and your record collection.

Overall summary

Turgid, awful song with practically no redeeming qualities.
