The Wombats Let's Dance To Joy Division

Is this a sneaky piece of advertising on part of Scouse threesome The Wombats behalf? Seeing that Joy Divsion biopic "Control" is now out at the cinema, one could argue that this is a blatant attempt to cash in on the film's success.

However - apart from the title, this song does not have anything in common with the miserable Mancunians. In fact, it makes the very observant comment that when we are going for a night out and are in a good mood we go to clubs that play miserable depressing music.

This is a pretty good tune - the lyrics are clear and clever, the music is happy and cheery, and there are even some choruses sung by children and synthy bleeps and bloops thrown in for good measure. Highly recommended.

What next?More by The Wombats? More reviews? More indie, or pop?
