Review: We Are Scientists - After Hours11 March, 2008 — Stuart Brown

We Are Scientists After Hours

American indie rock set We Are Scientists are in the charts this week with their latest offering; After Hours, from the album 'Brain Thrust Masterey'. With a very radio friendly sound, this is the sort of song you can find yourself humming along to without really meaning.

It's a fairly standard set of indie licks, with relentless guitar, repetitive yet uplifting lyrics, and the requisite factory-pressed bassline and drums. It's charming enough and quite inoffensive but it lacks any real distinction.

Repetitive lyrics annoy and the monotonous pace quickly wears. Altogether, it's just another American indie band trying too hard to emulate the recent success of the British scene. Nothing special.
