Review: Yves Larock - Rise Up8 August, 2007 — Stuart Brown

Ministry of Sound

yves larock rise up

Sounding vaguely reminiscent of the latter-90's remixes of Bob Marley's 'Sun Is Shining', Yves Larock is troubling the top 40 with vocal trance track, 'Rise Up'.

Everything seems in order - there's a typically nonsensical video (as is the norm with trance-cum-pop tracks), an annoying koto-esque trance riff, and - a requisite for vocal trance - a banal set of lyrics.

It's not entirely without merit, though - 'Rise Up' is certainly an uplifting summer trance track, and just in time for what remains of our thus-far sodden British summer.

The Good

The Bad

Overall

It's a summer hit. Superficial, ultimately unsatisfying and gone before you know it. Enjoy it while it lasts.
